Every evening like clockwork, after coming home from work, I take my makeup off, throw on my pj's, wack a facemask on and whisk my hair into a messy top knot. We've all had one of those days, where absolutely nothing has gone right, your skin has broken out with 100 zits and the other day, I was splashed by a bus driving past- I just wanted to cry. After a long and stressful day, there's nothing more than I want to do other than just to kick back and relax, and what better way to do that than soak in a lovely hot bath. I've really been trying to do more self-care in the evenings, even when I cannot be asked.
We see it in the movies all the time, the woman running a nice hot bubble bath, a glass of wine sitting on the side, candles lit and rose petals floating on top of the water, to be quite frank - I don't have the time for all of that. Right now I'm swapping bubbles for bath oils.
Lately, I've been using Tropic Skincare Soothe the Senses and Awaken the Senses Bath Soak Nourishing Oil to Milks (£38). They are the most luxurious and silky bath oils that transform into a nourishing milk as soon as they touch the water – it’s impossible not to love them! Legend has it that Cleopatra used to bathe in milk, she was known for her radiant beauty and great skin- so I guess these kinds of oil to milk bath soaks are your next best thing! Thanks for the tip Cleo.
I like to use this one in the evenings. One thing I love about these bath oils is that yes it smells beautiful but it also has benefits. The oils are blended with vitamin E and macadamia oils to condition and soften skin, which is perfect for dry skin! Something that I get quite a bit during the winter season. Cedarwood essential oil gives a warm and soothing feeling, releasing the day's stress.
For all my fellow working gals, this one is for you. The Awaken the Senses Bath Soak Nourishing Oil to Milk is perfect for using before you take on a busy day. I like to use this one before heading out for a shoot, it leaves me feeling invigorated, energised and sassy. It has benefits such as - neroli and basil essential oils that help banish fatigue and soothe muscles. Infusions of bergamot, lime, lemon, mandarin and sweet orange essential oils, leaving you feeling fresh and ready to take on anything - roll on summer' 18.
My skin is very sensitive so I've always been very wary as to what I put on it, especially body washes and oils, as in the past I've had very unpleasant reactions to some of them. But with the tropic skincare bath soaks I could sing their praises all day.
So if you're going to have a pamper night anytime soon, be sure to pick up one of these oils!
